Why did Jesus call the Pharisees blind? What were they unable to see?
The Pharisees devotion to their own man-made rules and their religious posturing was offensive to our Lord. They claimed to know God and judged others harshly in His name, but they didn`t have Him in their hearts and they weren`t living a Godly life. We have many of these hypocrites in our society today and their behavior often has a negative effect on a true Christian`s image and credibility. Why did Jesus call the Pharisees blind? What were they unable to see?
The Pharisees were not able to see the difference between things of man and that of God. The traditions and things that the Pharisees followed were man-made, self-made. The Pharisees were following traditions and speaking of God and referring to God, but they did not follow God and did not honor the word of God and they did not wholeheartedly know God. The Pharisees were unable to see the commandments of God and wanted to make the man made laws the doctrines of life. Jesus called them blind of such tendancy of making their own rules and not the rules of the Father in Heaven. By: Bol Joseph Agau - May 06, 2007 - Public Category: Clean and Unclean

Why did Jesus call the Pharisees blind? What were they unable to see?
They are called blind because they had not seen the truth. They were blinded by their tradition and doctrine made by men. By the traditions of the eldels, not only the word of God was perverted, but his worship also was greatly corrupted. By: narciso amabao - May 06, 2007 - Public Category: Clean and Unclean

Why did Jesus call the Pharisees blind? What were they unable to see?
that they were wrong b/c it is not what goes in ur body that is defies God, he ants u to take care of yourself but what is most important is what you say or do not say..when u say something terrible it is the worst way to defie God b/c he does not want us to be like that and especially not toward him who loves us so much and we should love him and show him we do b/c we owe him so much. Why did Jesus call the Pharisees blind? What were they unable to see?
They dont see that th real cleansiness with the capital C is the one of the heart. The intentions. And not just the formal obeyance to the formal directives that God gives. They care for the appearance but neglect the substance of the teachings. They cleanse the outward side of the vessel and make it shine for everyone to see and think tha they are good, but the inside is very likely filthy and that filth that gradually builds up blinds them and makes it difficult to walk in Jesus footsteps. Why did Jesus call the Pharisees blind? What were they unable to see?
Jesus called the Pharisees blind, because they could not see that merely washing your hands would not make you clean. The body being clean, will not bring you salvation; but, cleanse your heart ''soul'', and therein lies your salvation. The Pharisees were led by tradition, which was man`s laws, not God`s laws. By: Susan Fry - May 06, 2007 - Public Category: Clean and Unclean
Then Pharisees and
scribes came to Jesus from Jerusalem, saying, "Why do your disciples
disobey the tradition of the elders? For they don't wash their hands when
they eat bread."
He answered them,
"Why do you also disobey the commandment of God
because of your tradition? For God commanded, 'Honor your
father and your mother,' and, 'He who speaks evil of father or
mother, let him be put to death.' But you say, 'Whoever may tell
his father or his mother, "Whatever help you might otherwise have
gotten from me is a gift devoted to God," he shall not honor his father or
mother.' You have made the commandment of God void because of your
tradition. You
hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy of you, saying,
'These people draw
near to me with their mouth,
and honor me with their lips;
but their heart is far from me.
And in vain do they
worship me,
teaching as doctrine rules made by men.'"
He summoned the
multitude, and said to them, "Hear, and understand.
That which enters into
the mouth doesn't defile the man; but that which proceeds out of the
mouth, this defiles the man." Then the disciples
came, and said to him, "Do you know that the Pharisees were offended,
when they heard this saying?"
But he answered,
"Every plant which my heavenly Father didn't plant
will be uprooted. Leave
them alone. They are blind guides of the blind. If the blind guide the
blind, both will fall into a pit." Peter answered him,
"Explain the parable to us."
So Jesus said, "Do you also still not understand? Don't you understand that
whatever goes into the mouth passes into the belly, and then out of the
body? But the things
which proceed out of the mouth come out of the heart, and they defile the
man. For out of the
heart come forth evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, sexual sins, thefts,
false testimony, and blasphemies. These are the things which
defile the man; but to eat with unwashed hands doesn't defile the
man."
