I AM
So then one day, in the fullness of time, there came a Man, and this Man began to teach a new kind of life: life with God, life in God`s kingdom, life under God`s reign, in God`s presence, life with God`s favor and God`s power. And He taught that this life was now possible for human beings ordinary human beings men, women, slave, free, rich, poor, Jew, Gentile. His name was Jesus.

He said that He is the "Kingdom Bringer." All the hopes of the human race are wrapped up in Him. He is the climax of this whole redemptive history. In fact, one time He was teaching, and He said to the people,

  • Your father Abraham rejoiced at the thought of seeing my day, because the Kingdom of God is here. Abraham saw it and was glad. ''John 8:56''

The crowd is amazed and staggered by this statement, and they respond to Jesus,

  • You are not even fifty years old, yet you claim to have seen Abraham. ''John 8:57''

Then comes one of the most dramatic statements in history:

  • I tell you the truth. Before Abraham was born I AM. ''John 8:58''

This is like a slap on the face. He doesn`t say,
Before Abraham was born I was,
    or
    I already existed,
    or
    I was around.

He says, Before Abraham was born I AM. Why does He speak that phrase? Well everyone is real clear about what He is saying:

  • God has come down in me. God has come down. Get your hopes up.

After this, we`re told in the text that the crowd picked up stones. They were ready to kill him and, because of this claim, eventually they did. But a group of people, a small group at first, was convinced that this man in His life and His teachings and then in His death on the Cross, in His Resurrection and the empty tomb this man was redefining what is now possible for human life. They believed that He really is the Kingdom-Bringer that He came to "bring up there down here" that Jesus is It. He`s It everything you`ve been hoping for. They wrote in their letters to one another and in their records of His life, which became the New Testament Scriptures, promises and descriptions of what life can look like for people who follow Jesus.

What does this mean to me.

Not to be confused when life is complicated and harsh.

Not to expect that life will ever  satisfy my nature.

That the only way is through Jesus but sometimes this simple answer is at times very difficult.

I am One with God the Father- Jesus
Everything that is written is interesting and true, but the critical truth is that nobody will truely know God unless each of us asks through Jesus, who can grant us this knowledge.

    Jesus and His Father
I find it very interesting that Jesus mentions that His Father, The Most High God, showed Him ALL that He is doing. It is difficult to separate the two of them. Their true relationship I don't think anyone can ever really explain until they are ready to reveal the real depths of it first hand.

We will come to him and make our dwelling with him.
Anyone who loves him will heed what he says;then his Father will love you,and They will come to you and make their dwelling with you.Because Jesus is One with God the Father.

As Jesus is One with God
Jesus explains clearly how He and God are One, working to save the Earth, as God originally planned it to be.   To believe in God is to believe in Jesus, and to follow the words of Jesus is to follow the Son of God, and that means BOTH.  Amen!

"Hear O Israel: the Lord our God, the Lord is one." ( Mark 12:29)

"I and the Father are one." ( John 10:30)

"I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you know me, you will know my Father also." ( John 14:6-7)

But Jesus answered them, 'My Father is working still, and I am still working.' This was why the Jews sought all the more to kill him, because he not only broke the sabbath, but also called God his own Father, making himself equal with God. ( John 5:16-18)

"Whoever hates me hates my Father also." ( John 15:23)

"If I am not doing the works of my Father, then do not believe me; but if I do them, even though you do not believe me, believe the works, that you may know and understand that the Father is in me and I am in the Father." ( John 10:37-38)

"Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on my own authority; but the Father who dwells in me does his works." ( John 14:10)

"Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing on his own, but only what he sees the Father doing; for whatever the Father does, the Son does likewise. The Father loves the Son and shows him all that he himself is doing; and he will show him greater works than these, so that you will be astonished." ( John 5:19-20)

"Call no one your father on earth, for you have one Father - the one in heaven. Nor are you to be called instructors, for you have one instructor, the Messiah." ( Matthew 23:9)

"The Father judges no one but has given all judgment to the Son, so that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father. Anyone who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent him." ( John 5:22-23)

"If God were your Father, you would love me, for I came from God and now I am here. I did not come on my own, but he sent me." ( John 8:42)

"All things have been handed over to me by my Father; and no one knows who the Son is except the Father, or who the Father is except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him." ( Luke 10:22)
